When I left SW Washington to go to college on the East side of the state, one of the biggest things I missed my first year was autumn. Eastern Washington moves from summer to winter in about two weeks. On the West side, we generally get a good two months. There aren’t a lot of tonal changes on WSU’s campus. This fall I decided I needed to get home to see the family, and the colors, before all the leaves hit the ground. It’s only an hour’s drive, after all, but for the last several years, even after I had graduated and moved west once more, I hadn’t made it back in time. Yesterday we spent the day in Longview. I snapped this shot (and a few others) .
